And here we are, off to a brand new Weavers Guild year, with a fabulous Fibers and Beyond event coming up in October and an incredible list of programs stretching into the New Year.
But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. The newsletter is crammed with inspiring news about events, near and far—take a look and find just what you are looking for. Big News! We are changing our monthly meeting, after much discussion. We are now meeting on the third Saturday of each month, with a plan for every month, 10am to 2pm, in the same locale (St James Church on 14th Street in Fairhaven aka Bellingham). See page 4 for details of our upcoming exciting programs.
Have you registered to be a part of Fibers and Beyond? Classes, exhibit or the sale? See pages 5-7 for the latest on classes and registrations. And yes, there is still time to register for any of exhibit, classes and sale. Talking of classes, the list of the Jansen fall sessions is on page 10—a full page! Deciding which one or ones will be the tough part. Looking for a new loom (particularly a starter loom) - check out our classifieds, pages 17 and 18.
OK Fall, we’re ready!

Summer is almost with us, which means a real mixed bag of summery days interspersed with cooler, rainy days. It’s all good for the garden! Flowers are blooming from the sun and rainy refreshment.
During the summer, after this newsletter, look for a newsletter in late July, and then our September edition. Have fun if you are attending ANWG’s conference (Treadling Lightly) in Victoria. Don’t forget your passport!
June brings us a Rug Weaving program, July brings us the Maiwa trip, August the Wool Show. And of course, lots of leisurely summer time for getting ready of our Fibers and Beyond show in October. Entry form and Show Acceptance Guidelines are on pages 5 and 6. Enter by June 30 and save on your entry fee!
Do you have your summer reading list ready? How about checking the Guild library? Let the good times roll!

Well, I was all set to moan and complain about the long, cold, wet, miserable winter/false Spring we are having, but magically, the weather is finally warming up and color is everywhere. What an exciting Guild year this is. One of the reasons I so enjoy editing the newsletter is receiving and reading all the news of the events, both inside and outside the Guild. Kudos to our Board members and their willing helpers, bringing alive programs, workshops, field trips, participation in conferences, inspiration of a new generation of weavers, outreach programs to our community.
Read on! Program news on page 2, the upcoming Wool Show in August on page 4, Small Looms Group on page 5, many workshops and classes on page 6 and more news on our October Fibers and Beyond workshops and sale on pages 7-9. If you are planning on attending ANWG’s Victoria conference in June, our ANWG representative, Liz Moncrief, has advice on getting there on page 10. As usual our classifieds, days and dates pages (11-15) have many exciting opportunities not to be missed. Our May program, the famed Daryl Lancaster, will be one of our high spots this year—don’t miss it!

Bloom time in the Skagit Valley! A little later this year, but beautiful nonetheless. And much happening at the Whatcom Weavers Guild. Spring is here, time to dig out your stash, and bring it along to our annual Stash Sale at our April meeting. Great programs coming up in May and June, a Maiwa trip planned for July, Fibers and Beyond in October and of course, who is planning on going to Victoria for the ANWG Conference in June? It is such a busy year. And with Spring come thoughts of change—check out President Kathy Hutchinson’s article on page 3 about thoughts on making our Weavers Guild even better! And for you, how are those New Year ideas working out for making your weaving and crafting life even better? Check out Susan Torntore’s update on programs on page 4 and other ideas on pages 5 and 6 about opportunities for classes and work sessions. And the news and updates on Fibers and Beyond keep coming—see pages 7 and 8. So much to see and do! In the meantime, the daffodils and tulips are calling—enjoy!
